IF EVER I FORGET YOUR FACE
If ever I forget your face
remember me as I am now
and if with age the life I’ve lived
fades like a distant dream somehow
and all I’ve loved and all I’ve known
disappears without a trace
give me the comfort of your voice
and the gentle touches of your kiss
and the loving comfort of your smile
All those things I’d dearly miss
if I still had the memory
If I still had a simple choice
If ever I forget your face
forgive me for it was not meant
If I forget all those I’ve loved
question where the magic went
For all the precious moments now
must be with smiles - must be with grace
If ever I forget your voice -
forget my children - all my kin
and all I’ve been and all I’ve done
open your heart and let me in
And do not weep for memory gone
Remember now - for that rejoice

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
